CC Qjet to Non CC Qjet
Hello All, I have a 1982 Camaro with a stock 305 using a Comp Controlled Q-Jet. I want to convert to a NON CC Q-Jet due to some wire issues from the previous owner.(will also change distributor to a non CC HEI) Can someone recommend a non CC Q-Jet for my application(part number supplier etc)? Thanks in advance!

Just curious why would you stick with a factory style carb? Factory carbs are designed per application. Same car same engine one with air injection one without different carb number.
I am old enough that I have modified Quadra jets, I drilled a few jets and bent a few control rods but my 67 has a Holley Street avenger on it. It will cost less then a reman -Q-jet |
I have been going back and forth on the carb type, edlebrock 1406 or Non CC Q Jet.
My thoughts: Remain non CC Q Jet: able to use the same throttle linkage, no adapter pate needed for manifold. no re routing the fuel lines. Nat'l Carb and Guaranty Carb offer non CC Q-Jets for around $240. I think this would be as close to a Bolt and go type install. Edelbrock 1406: Would need to reroute fuel lines, need manifold adapter, manufacture or buy new throttle linkage. Summit Carb $350 plus additional manifold adapter $, new throttle linkage $, new air cleaner $, etc $. I'm no master mechanic, I'm just trying to keep the project on a budget and as user friendly as possible. Main goal is to get the car road worthy, increasing performance isn't the highest priority at this point. Your thoughts / suggestions ? |
