can u spare a sec?
hi, i have a 87 iroc 350tpi, and i have a few problems with it, first off when i have the car in park and i rev it up then let it drop it stalls on me, i just replaced an altenator so i know thats not why, 2. i was driving it down hill today and it felt like my car went into nutral, i lost my second gear as i was going down the road, i hit the gas and the rev went up but the car had no further push, i pulled over and checked to see if my tranny died and it fixed itself. also what size tire should i put on it? i currently use 245s with a 16 rim but should i go wider? (please email me if you have a answer to any of my questions, im new to this site and its probroly going to take a while before im able to get back on, my email is mercurikun@yahoo.com) thanks for taking a look at my problems, i really appreciate it

on another note, my gauges are wrong, they work but they say im going slower then i actually am, according to my spedometer i only go 90 when i floor it going down a long highway stip, and my tach maxes out straight to the 7000 redline if i floor it, it doesnt slowly go up to the 7 like its going to shift the car, it just goes straight to the seven and shifts a bit later

What do you mean by "first off when i have the car in park and i rev it up then let it drop it stalls on me"
Are you putting it in gear?

I'd take a look at the idle air control valve, if it's not functioning properly or is clogged or disconnected. Also check the small "spider" grounds in the wiring harness. The valve could be blocked due to extra carbo in the intake.
