91 RS with starting problems

I just bought a '91 RS with a 305 and 700r4 tranny in it. I was told that the car ran until one day it just stopped. I get the car home and the RS will run for a few seconds if I pour gas into the throttle body. Oh yeah, I must say that I found out a few days later that the RS is originally a V6 car with a manual tranny. I was told that these cars have a problem with the fuel pump going out. I am trying to find out how to test the fuel supply without having to drop the tank unless I really have to. I already took of the fuel line to the throttle body and turned the motor over and no fuel spilled out. I also have a few vacuum line that are off and dry rotted and I don't know where they belong so, I looking for a diagram for the vacuum lines if anybody knows where I can get one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Also where can I find a identifier on the motor to find out exactly what motor is in the car?

Welcome, Kardez.
RS is simply an Appearance Pkg - no performance.
Engine code should be on the pass front side of engine on a pd.deck of the block right behind the alternator. These numbers, two sets, are partial VIN, and the other number designates manufacture location, date code, and engine model. NastyZ/28.com has a good listing/instructions.

Common item is fuel pump. You can swap out the fuel pump relay with another relay of the same part number or new one. Or, you can, for troubleshooting purposes, pull relay from its socket and make a male-to-male quick disconnect jumper for the relay socket and jumper in continuous battery power.
There is a Schrader valve, looks like tire valve stem, on the fuel rail, and attach a fuel pressure gauge, or cheap tire gauge and check fuel pressure.
Fuel pump should come on for 2-3 seconds moving IGN key from OFF to IGN.

Since you've been trying to start engine, it would be a good idea to externally charge the battery- might as well, it isn't going anywhere.

I had a 91 with fuel supply issues too. There is no Schrader valve, nor a fuel rail, just a solid fuel line going into the TBI. Can you hear the pump making any noise (few second prime) when you turn the key on, not the run position?

Thanks or the information. I don't hear the fuel pump. so i'll look into that first. Thanks again and I hope I can get back at you if I have anymore questions.

CAMARO 69... thanks for your answer too. The TBI engine is the one that was put in to replace the original V6 engine. I will be taking a look at the fuel pump tomorrow.
