Every dreamer comes here or to any forum thinking they can just buy a cheap car and swap in a giant cube motor. Nuh uh.

yes it can be done and has been done.it's not that difficult....most don't recommend it asit is costly, however in reality most of the mods you do would also be done for a high output 350 or 383 ( better rear, better tranny, better fuel system, subframes, better exhaust etc.) your biggest enemy would be weight. big blocks are heavy and add that weight to the front end. (and yes some will argue that the extra weight is a small price to pay for the power) you can reduce the weight by using alloy engines, which is very expensive.
there are other reasons that people are wary of a bbc 3rd gen. some make since others are just stuck on a theme. use an LS7, LTI, LS1, LS2, use a diesel.(yes there is a guy on the dieselgarge.com web site who is stuffing a cummins 4bt diesel in a second gen)....each taunted and flaunted as the best for whatever reason.
For many of us this thing thing we do with our cars is our dream. That dream is important to us (even if it seems unrealistic). Dreams should not be crushed but encouraged.
my advise is to research it, (magazines, web sites, forums, car shows, races etc) Talk to the folks with their foot on the gas...take what you hear and read in it's intended context and make an informed decision. Figure out just what your goal for the car is. (belive me we all want a5 second camaro that gets40 mpg, that will turn like an F-16--all with 5people and a keg on board (forgot the 10- 20" woofers in the back)....
Think, plan and set goals before you start laying out a huge pile of cash for something that will not meet your expectations. So many projects turn into hopless half finished money pits because people want to continually change and do the "hot thing of the day".
Projects fail because youDON'T have the resources ( Time, Knowledage, Money, Support) you need to see it through...
Off my soap box..
Back to the origninal question.
Yes it will fit, there's more to it than beefing the front end and it'll fit between the fenders..
to each his own..

and by the way dan, thats how hot rodding got started... take a cheap 2 door car, strip itandthrow in the biggest engine you could find.
