Default 350 not firing on all cylinders please help!

Hey everyone i had to put fixing the windsheild wipers on hold because ive run into a bigger problem my engine is skipping. I could hear a skip in the motor just idling but i did a plug test anyways. First I put all new spark plugs in, still the motor is skipping. I tested the wires they had fire, i tested the wires with the plugs on a ground they had fire. What I found out is i pulled the wires connecting to the distributor 2 of them i can pull them and it does not affect the motor any others an the motor will bog down?? what should i do next?

check the cap and rotor theres probably a lot of gunk built up or the pins on the cap are worn

if all is good with the cap, rotor, wires , and plugs... do a compression test... first dry (no oil) then wet (with a squirt of oil in the spark plug hole) if compression is low and theirs a dramatic increase in compression on the wet test rings are weak no or little difference your loosing it out the valves maybe sticky valves or worn cam lobes or other valvetrain components. this is if all else is good ie: ignition, and fuel

it requires a compression tester you should be able to get one at any auto parts store (advance auto and auto zone have loan a tool programs) remove the spark plug from the offending cylender screwing the tester disable the ignition ( so the engine doesnt start) hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank the engine over until the comprssion gage (on the tester) stops moving this is the compression of that cylender. you should have someone to help as with out a remot starter switch you caint crank the engine and watch the guage at the same time

yep check that first like I said if the plugs wires cap and rotor are good and your runng a carb or TBI this is next if you have TPI or multi port injection you would check those injectors for the dead cyliners
