305 horsepower?
How much horsepower is in a 305?
How can i improve it?
How much can i improve on a stock automatic transmission?
How much would it cost?
What would i need to change to better cope with the increased power?
Thanks for your help

1 )If you have a Z28 with a carb it is a lg4 305 and it has 165 big horses when new & less now.
2) How to improve it...rip it out and install a 350.
3)700R4 will be all right until you do something dumb & stupid.
4) Cost..as much as you want to spend.
5) You have to make HP before you need to cope with it.
My opinion is you are not making any now. Also if it is a LB9 TPI same as the above except you have 190hp.

That would depend on what you changed your engine too. Assuming you swap it to a 300 HP engine then you will need a rebuild/upgrade. Your tranny can be made to handle a lot of HP. The 86 700R4s where problmatic in there stock form.

Even the 305 TPI motor was only listed as 205HP. I put a few cranks in these 305s under warranty, meaning that 205 HP was too much for them when they where fresh. Think twice about increasing the HP in one of these without going thru the bottom end and upgrading the rod and main bolts. I would also upgrade the rods but if money is tight you can have them sized and peened. I have no idea what the motor will handle with these upgrades and a stock crank but I have a pretty good idea what it won't handle without them
