HELP! What other GM Transmission will fit my broken standard 84 Camaro Berlinetta

Hello, So i went to the mechanic shop a while back to get a throwout bearing replaced in my 1984 Camaro Berlinetta. When I drove it home the clutch let go, so back again, mechanic said i needed a clutch, ok so that was replaced. On the way home I noticed the the 1st gear was very difficult to engage and rumbled. Then when i tried to reverse, I tried engaging the car in reverse and it made a very loud grid and I actually had to turn the car off to put it in reverse, and start it in reverse to back up. I brought it back to the mechanic and he said i blew the transmission when the clutch let go, but I believe he never correctly put the clutch back in. So I was told by someone else he must of lifted my camaro on the clutch rod and bent it, I really dont know. So I am looking for help, I looked everywhere for a Camaro with a 5 Speed standard transmission, but they seem rare to me. Also my car is completely original with stock 2.8L V6 and 5-speed transmission. I am woundering what other GM vehicle would have the same transmission. So it have a model number anything I could look for? Thanks everyone :)

You will need to locate a GM T5 with a V6 bolt pattern. The most common cars to find them on were all 84ish-92 Fbody's and S10's.

The mechanic removed the trans to change the throwout bearing. Stands to reason, if the bearing is shot, the clutch might be on it's last leg too. I wonder why he didn't check the condition of the clutch while in there, perhaps he's an idiot?

Thanks for the replies. The mechanic is an idiot and I learned that I was not the only one to have troubles with him, so I think hes done. So I guess a transmission from a V8 would not fit? even if I have the bell-housing from my old transmission? would a 5-speed transmission from a 1991 S-10 4x4 4.3 liter fit?
