1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

I picked up an '84 Z28 a few days ago (3/15/14) for basically nothing. It isn't much to look at currently, but I wanted something that I could play around with, so this is perfect for me. Unfortunately, the PO swapped the 305 out for a 307 that was made in '74 for some unknown reason. Its basically got everything you can imagine that Edelbrock makes on the engine ( I dislike Edelbrock...), and the carb needs some adjusting because its running pretty rich. Pretty sure its just got the 700r4 transmission, unfortunately its an auto, but its got a nifty B&M shift kit that is kinda cool, in a redneck kind-of-way. The body is completely straight, minus the fact that there is a quarter sized spot of rust on the passengers rear fender... The car is currently just in primer, but I plan on sanding it down and re-primering some rough spots, then painting the car. It looks like the PO also took a can of red spray paint to the engine bay... which is not OK. The steel wheels are pretty rusty, and the tires are completely bald and dry rotted. Surprisingly, it made a 150 mile trip from Ohio without any real problems.

My plans are to repaint everything, redo the interior, get rid of the 307 (not sure which engine I'm going with yet, probably a carb'd 350 or 383) and building the existing transmission to handle a little more power. I also want to build up the suspension a bit so that isn't as much of a boat.

Mod List

I'm not going to add a mod list until I actually start a tear down and begin to rebuild it my way.

Nice pickup man. Good luck with your build.

I've done a little work on it, but not much. Ended up pulling out the carpet because the PO spray painted it black... (Redneck Engineering, at its finest). I'm also pretty sure that the PO spray painted most of the interior black as well, except the dash. the dash top pad was also faded and and cracked, so I took it out and I plan on going to a junk yard here soon to try to find some of the interior pieces in at least good shape, if I can't find any, I'm just going to get it off of Hawks Third Gen lol.

Also tuned the carb on the 307 to some extent, and I have decided to just go ahead and pull the motor/trans at some point this summer before I paint it, that way I can just sand down everything and paint the engine bay correctly.

Goals for this spring/summer:
-Body work... lots of body work... (fixing a rust hole, in passenger quarter panel) sanding down the primer to see what else is hidden/rusted underneath of it, prep for painting, etc.)
-Pull motor/trans and sell them (hope to be buying a 350 crate engine and a built 700r4, or just rebuilding the one I have, if I can figure out how)
-try to find a 2 inch cowl hood semi cheap (want to supercharge or turbo the new engine I get, but Idk if that's going to actually happen lol)
-Paint (Possibly a black metallic from House of Kolor)
-other small things here an there

Sounds like you will have a busy spring/summer time ahead of you.
