RE: wont start
Will it stay running if you give it some gas? What was the last thing done to it as far as mods or maint?
|
RE: wont start
the last thing changed was the distributer cap, even if you give it gas it still cut rite off could it be the oil sending unit
|
RE: wont start
Oil sending unit has NOTHING to do with this. What are you running? (Carb, EFI, etc...)How long does it run for? Any noises, pops, etc? DOes it fire right back up or do you need to crank it forever.....Im not a mechanic, but I was a service writer for years. My jobwas to get the best description possibleand give it to the mechanics....so, give us a detailed account of whats going on.....

RE: wont start
Lets see... Could be fuel filter? Blockage in the fuel lines not letting enough gas to keep flowing? Vaccuum leak? So many possibilities. 89 RS it's gotta be TBI. Could it be you need to clean your throttle bodies or even get new ones? All of these are possibilities and without any more details, its really hard to say. Sorry man.

Make sure the wires for the injectors are not pinched and grounding under the air cleaner

|
RE: wont start
try a gm code key and see if any codes come up by i had a smiilar problem but with a different car and it was one of my sensors going into the intake i just cant remember it right now it might have been my map sensor but dont quote me on it.

RE: wont start
i might say this too often but if it is TBI try unplugging the IAC on the TBI unit and spraying carb cleaner or degreaser on it
|
RE: wont start
My 87 Iroc 5.7 is doing the same, hopefully the issue can be resolved before I lose all of my hair.
