i was reading an old article from the late 80's with a 305 tpi firebird.(http://www.thirdgen.org/slptpibuild-hpp-feb89 ) they were able to pick up a full second with just some minor things, such as unblocked the hood scoop, blocked egr, 12* timing, and a 160* thermostat. i still havent figured out how to change the timing, but i prolly wont fool with that. what i would like to know is where the egr is on the 86 tpi. it serves nothing more than to reduce emissions, kill hp, and help keep the valves cooler. a picture would be great

 

I do believe its under the plenum.

 

would it be the smaller tubes between the pairs of tubes, kind of inside? when i took my plenum off, i noticed them, and they were full of a carbon and shizzle. is there any way to block them off for more performance?

 

I thought it just looked like a regular egr valve. I may be wrong as I usualy am. Next to the 1&3 runners????

 

the egr on those is a standard EGR valev, can't get it off without ranking the runnder and plenum off.....it's a big circle under the intake almost in the center if the intake

 

Thats pretty much exactly what I said.......so I'm not tripping!

 

ill check it out in my book if i can remember. i had it all off recently to replace the fuel regulator, and the only big circle that i remember is the pressure regulator.

does anyone know what those two smaller tubes would be?

 

Take a pic of them and post it. The only extra small tube I can think of was an extra injector for cold starts on early TPI. But I thought that was one extra small runner

Look in your Camaro performance handbook. Pg.60. There is an Accel manifold at the top and you can see where the egr bolts to the near center of the manifold.
