Wheel and Tire Size
I have a 91 Z28 and I was wondering if 17 inch rims will fit? Right now I have the stock 235/55/16s on. When the front wheels are turned all the way in either direction they are extremely extremely close (within mm's) of rubbing the inner wheel well. I wouldn't expect any problems with the rear wheels with 17's, but I don't know about the fronts. I thought 17's might work if they were 245/45s or 245/40's. Anyone have 17's on their 91's?

RE: Wheel and Tire Size
17" wheels will work (may require spacers) with 245/45 or 245/40 tires with no problems with clearance or the speedometer. Picture of my car with 17 x 8.5 wheels & 245/45/17 tires.

RE: Wheel and Tire Size
thanks for the link....however I believe the chart is saying that the 245/45/17's are actually 1.88% smaller than the 16"wheel and tire comboas the sidewall of the 17" tire is 20mm+ (over an inch) shorter than that of the 16. Makes sense if we think about it. So the lower profile side wall of a 17"tire makes the one inch difference between rim sizes irrelevant. So basically, a 245/45/17 wheel and tire combo is actually smaller thana 235/55/16....just have a bigger rim. But if you stand next to these two combos, the 17" combo will actually be an inch shorter than the 16" combo...all because of the sidewall height of the tire.
