Default wheel paint

i was curious to see if any of you have used either Dupont or Duplicolors wheel paint? i cant rememeber who makes it. Maybe they both do. My wheels are in need of some TLC and if i can just do it this way, i could save a lot of money. I know it needs prep and blah blah blah. But i still wanna know what yall think of this stuff. Or if there is a better one out there?

400 grit sand paper, wheel primer, and then 400 grit just the top of it so the paint can stick, then shoot the color and clear coat.

I used Duplicolor brite red on my wheels. (they were faded to pink[:'(])
The wheels have a little bit of texture on them and sand paper does not get into it. Use some Tide and a course scotch brite pad. The tide cleans at the same time (good if you spray armor all) and the scotch brite gets in the texture and noocks and crannys. No need to sand the old color off or prime. The color sticks well to the wheel and if primer sticks to the color then paint will stick without primer.

wheel primer... is that any different than an auto primer? is it special to withstand brake dust and all that at all? I was thinkin i may take my power washer to it to help get some of the paint off ( looks like somebody tried to paint them already) then wait a few days to dry really well, then sand, tac it, then spray and repeat. Also, i have a spray gun, would it be better to use that? or would i get just as good of results with the cans?

also, what about bead blasting? ive heard good things about it. or would even that be to rough or unnecessary for the aluminum. The wheel itself is in good shape, just looks kinda nasty

If there is still OEM paint on there that is good. If you take it down to the aluminum then you are going to have to use a primer for aluminum. (there are different primers for ferous and non ferous metals)
You can do a decent job with a spray can. And it will be cheaper.
