Default What to do, $1000

So i have a 91 rs, all primed up. I dont care what it looks like but i just wanna go fast, fast. I have a 305 tbi. My trannys slipping so I must get a new one, thats already decided. My question is how can I get more bang for my buck? A 350 and rebuild it (have a shop so no problem there plus my friends dad restores cars for a living so knows what hes doing) or build the 305 with power upgrades?

You should know by know from reading other post on this forum that most are going to tell you to get a 350. I am going to say get a 400! But building a 350 will cost more than a cam and intake for your 305.
If its a grand that you have to spend though a 700R4 (4L60) will eat much of that.

I agree. Get a 350. You'll put soooo much more into that 305 before you can get nearly as much as you can get from that 350. Much cheaper to Mod a 350

The T5s' are weaker than an auto. That is why they did not come on the 350 tpi. The later T5s (87and up I think) are rated at 300ft lb of torque and that is what the 350 put out.

i plan on swaping a 350 in mine, from what i can tell it seems easy, i was told all you need are the 350 injectors, knock sensors and a 350 chip along with the actual motor, everything else will swap over

I say keep the 305 and get a tpi setup and put it on there, that is where you get the most pop. I did a swap from a 305 tbi to 350 tbi and not so much pop plus later you should be able to just swap and leave the tpi on with a 350. for if you look at the stock numbers the difference in horse power between a 305 tpi and a 350 tpi (non g92) is only 10. Plus it is an option that will boost you 60 hp and that you can use again later if you switch to a 305.

So ur saying just get a tpi setup (vs the tbi) and ill get 60 more horses? If I were to get a 350 I was gonna take out all my computer stuff in my car and just drop in a 350 carbed. Could someone drop me some numbers on the horsepower and prices of a tpi kit for a 305 vs a carbed 350? Thnx. Just tryin to get most bang outta my buck. With the $1000 budget I still need the turbo 350 trans and a buddy of mine has a built one for $250, then I need to get a replacement front right rim for my cragar set ($130)so basically $600 left. Hopefully gonna buy a 4.11 gear set to so. Yeah.
