Really? Maaco said they would do a great job of-sanding the car down, bondoing anything that needs it, priming the car, then they would put a nice flat black color on the car(highquality) then they would put white sttripes down the middle for 1000$.
Is maaco bad or something??

Places like Maaco, Miricale, one day, Earl Shcibb, the production shops like that basicly give you what you pay for. Cheap work for a cheap price. $1000 may not seem cheap when you are the one paying it but it is.
When you see a car that has paint on the edges of the lights, molding, handles, mirror spacers, weather strrip, where ever or its peeling around the places close to moldings and handles and such, they are usualy the ones that were painted by a production shop.
They use cheap materials, it may say "DuPont" on the can but it is the lowest grade Dupont.
Cheap labor. If the labor is cheap there is very little skill and they don't give a crap about what they do.
And fast. No time for quality. Fast work is so far from Good quality they don't even get near that happy medium between the two kost of the time.
Just be aware

It should also have alot to do with what painter you get, Some could be a good painter, but he gets off work in an hour and is going dirtbiking with his buddy, therefore he will do a crappy job on the paint, but if i was lucky, i could get a good quality painter who takes his time with the car and does a fantastic job. I think it really has to do with whos painting your car. Mike, can you take another look at my "i need help with carb issues" thread?

True about the painters. Most of them can apply the paint well because that is what they do all day 5 days a week. As for taking their time, They are production shops. They want the cars in and out fast. They need to make a large amount of money to keep the name of the francheise and to do that for the low money they charge they have to make up for it in volumn.

Ya i guess your right, but are you saying that if i take it to maaco and get a 1000$ paintjob, that there will be paint on the lights!?I think it would be a pretty decent job?
