And the water's effect is only momentary, it'll dry off pretty much right away from the engine heat and friction. Unless you're keeping it wet by driving through a river.

might check your clutch slave cylinder ( i think thats the one on the tranny?) and all lines if its still a problem. Even check the bolts from the bellhousing the to block. mine were about a handfull of turns from falling out. ALL of them. So my clutch wasnt working properly

Make sure you have a check plate. I've came across a few cars that were missing them because some shade tree mechanic didnt put it back.

your question has been pretty much answered, so i have a bit of a past experience. i drove a vehicle through a creek to clean off mud and parked it about 6 miles after crossing the creek. the next morning the clutch was rusted to the flywheel and wouldnt release.

my dad managed to do something to it while i was at school. i started it up in low range, backed up, shut it off, started in first low and tried running it around in the field with no luck.
