Default Transmission swap 700r4 to th350

Hey guys, i've searched some of the threads and can't find anything. I'm sure there are things there but i can't find it. Anyways I have a 1990 camaro, and came with the 700r4. I burned it up by drifting over heated it and the 3/4 band burned up the process. So i got a built th350 as one of my graduation gifts.
What all do i need to get my th350 in and working. I know i need cross members. Do i need an extended tail shaft? or a different drive shaft? I've found this kit on summit but if someone could tell me that this is all i need. Then that will be great.

that kit includes the smaller bits that you will need. you will still need a custom driveshaft and a cross member, but that should be it. from the reading, it seems like the driveshaft for an 82 with a th200 will fit, but good luck finding one

That really makes me wonder. My 82 has a th350 in it. (obviously not original). There doesnt seem to be any additional brackets or accessory parts. So a th350 shouldnt be able to run with stock mounts or axle???

stock mounts, no. unless it had a th200, maybe it would have bolted up in place of that? the axle would remain stock though

Scott, yours would have originally had the failure prone TH200. The 200 is just a lightened up version of the T350 (lighter, weaker components). And a T350 will slip right in it's place.

So your saying i don't need anything? No cross members, no new driveshaft. It will just swap right into place?

No, because you have a 700R4, which is different from the 200/350. To put a T350 in your car, you'll need to change out or rework your crossmember, get a longer driveshaft (the 700R4 is longer than the 350). You can try and find a shaft from an early 3rd gen that had the 200 trans. You're also going to need a torque arm relocation bracket (Summit carries them) because your arm mounts to the trans. I know I've seen a 700R4 to T350 conversion kit at Summit, if I find it I'll post the link.

Another thought, how long is the tailshaft housing on your T350? If it's a 9", then the overall length of the tranny is supposed to be pretty much the same length as what the 700 is.

Where do i start to measure the tailshaft? And if it's a 9inch, all i need is crossmembers to hold it?
