Default TPI headers

im lookin into headers for spring, but im having a hard time deciding. i was looking at the hedman headers for $136, simple black headers. or the edelbrock TES system, which includes all the mounting brackets, bolts, gaskets, high flow y-pipe, and is garunteed to fit and not leak. however, the edelbrock system includes the air tubes, which i dont want. the flange for them between the exhaust ports isnt very big. its $400.

well if your car is emissions tested, your gona need to spend the extra buck and get the headers with the AIR tubes on them. I had to, i wish i coulda gotten away and not done it.

I dont think you will find a direct fit to a third gen Camaro exhaust from Edelbrock with out the air tubes. And for the cost difference if you dont need or want the tubes go with the headman. I would think for the difference in cost you could take that money and have a muffler shop hook up a y pipe. I think it may be best to get midlength headers also so there is space to run a y pipe as opposed to full length would be better for duel exhaust.

thats one of the problems, the only custom shop around here closed up do to lack of business. the only places now are meineke and monroe, which overcharge for everything. my y pipe does sit pretty low and has quite a few dings and small dents, and a few larger ones. im considering the edelbrock now just incase emissions ever comes here, but i dont think classic cars have the sniffer.

The Edelbrocks pipe is kinda big and may hang out a little farther than what you have now. You may be able to cut off your stock collectors and weld the ones on that come with the headman to your pipe. Or maybe make up your own down pipe. My brother has done this on many of his rides. There is an autoparts in town that used to sell a lot of the u bends and elbows and stuff to make up your own exhaust.
I am not trying to talk you out of Edelbrock. I love thier products. Just trying to help with ideas to maybe save money and get what you want.

insurance company told me 20 years and older and its classic.

if i had anything to cut, weld, or bend, id gladly make my own exhaust. but with my financial status of being 17, a student, and workning part time, id never be able to afford a welder, and my parents have more issues with legal costs for an incident back in april.

Here in California The insurance company can say its a classic but that does not make it exempt from smog. It may just be best for you to go with the Edelbrok then. Keep your air tubes and instalation should be a breeze.
