tire width
Hello... I was doing some research on tires for my camaro and seen that some people put 11" wide tires on there camaro with out messing with the body and not changing there axles... I believe I read that all they did was beat up there inner fender well... Have any of you guys tried anything like this?

RE: tire width
It might work if you get wheels with the right offset. Just remember that if a tire fits while the car is standing still it might just hit when going around a turn or over bumps. As it is, the stock tires rub the wheel well in hard cornering.

You really dont't want to make it too stiff or you will be bouncing around the turns instead of driving around them, and losing control. Try to get a matched set of springs, shocks, sway bars, and control arms & rods, as it really does not pay to experiment with this stuff, let some body else go through the trial and error. Also there are tricks you can do with the front end alignment, such as adding a dgree of positive camber, the car will corner better but eat the inside of you tire. You can also add more caster so that the steering wheel will come back quicker as you exit a turn.
As for tires, get the widest ones that will fit, with the fronts maybe a size smaller than the rear. Also the rim width should be as wide as the thread width or maybe 1" narrower. You want equal pressure across the contact patch. If the rim is too wide most pressure will be on the edges of the tire, if it is too narrow the pressure willbe on the center. Either way the handling will suffer. Get a really good high speed tire someting like the Good Year F1. Also don't go too crazy with the aspect ratio, you are driving over bumps and dont want to blow you tires and bend your rims over the first serious bump. Look at he shape of the tires used on Formula 1 cars, which are the best handling cars made. The best handling street tires on dry surface do not carry a MS rating (mud & now). But keep in mind these tires really suck in rain and snow. Of all the mods you do to improve handlig, tires are the most important, that's where the rubber meets the road.

yes i have seen it done. at stock ride hieght i think they will work. my buddy run 17X11 wheels on a lowered f-body. if it is lowered you will probably need an adjustable panhard rod and he also get some SLP bumpstops. deffinately need to roll the fenders though.
