Pulling my 305 tpi out of my 89 iroc. Here's what i've grabbed up to replace it.

Engine: Pre 1987 350 4 bolt main short block #10066036

Cam: Lunati Voodo hydraulic flat tappet cam and lifters #60101
int/exh int / exh
specs: lift 454/468 - dur 213/219 - lobe sep. 112

Heads: Gm 10088113 L98 aluminum heads with some mild porting done

Intake: 58mm throttle body, mildly ported plenum, mildly ported SLP runners, gasket ported base.

Exhaust: Headman shorties 1 5/8 - w/ 3in collectors

Let me know what you think and if you forsee me running into any issues with this setup. Also what will i need to make those heads work with my setup? I've heard you need to make some mods to make them fit an 89 intake.

did you buy the cam new?

I'm curious why in this day and age you would not convert to a roller?

if this is just a bunch of used stuff your cobbling together on the cheap then I understand.

I bought it new. All parts have been purchased new. The reason i decided not to convert is the cost. Near $1000 in a cam conversion just doesn't make sense to me. Not when i can pick up a roller short block for $250-$500 which i intend to do for a 383 build. Thanks for your reply.

Make sure you have the block checked to make sure it can accept the 400 crank. That is a tight fit, and machining is advised. As above poster said, roller is advised, but budget restraints are understandable, just be sure to do your homework on all parts purchased that aren't new.

Thanks for the advice on the 383 build. I'm thinking of picking up one of the blocks that are ready to go from summit. It will be something that i can take my time with and plan out. I'm rushing with this 350 because the 305 has a bad wrist pin and I want my car running for summer. With those parts what kind of power do you think i should see? The motor has flat top pistons and with the 113 heads should be around 10.1:1 compression.

I'm confused

are you pulling the engine and tossing in a used engine but also building another engine for the same vehicle?

I'm confused on why your confused. I thought i was clear in my previous post about being in a rush so i could have my car for the summer. The block i currently have is not one i want to use for a 383 build so i will pickup a factory roller block and take my time building it over a period of 1-3 years.
