Default Swapping a TPI 305 into a V6 car.

Hello,

The V6 in my 1991 Camaro RS just went out, and I'm looking to replace it with a low priced 305 TPI engine and transmission. It doesn't have an intake, wiring harness, computer or any accessories. Now, I realize I'll need the intake, wiring harness and computer, but what other parts do I need to complete the conversion? Are there parts off of the V6 I can use with the 305?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

No you cant really use any of the parts. And youre going to have to fabricate some motor mounts as well but if you get the whole motor, tranny, wiring harness, and computer you should be pretty much set to go I believe.

its easy to find a stock tpi intake for your motor. with a good throttle body n new injectors it will give good performance n relibility. u can get a carb n intake pretty cheap but u have to know how to adjust it.

well your car should have the 700R4 tranny in it which will bolt up to a 305 or 350. and you wont have to fabricate new motor mounts. if you look on where the mounts are there are holes already cut out. all you have to do is move the existing motor mounts up.

Whoa, hold on a second. Tons of misinformation in this thread.

1. You can easily buy the motor mounts new, or get them with the engine from the parts car, the V6 motor mounts WILL NOT work.
2. The transmission from the V6 WILL NOT work.
3. You will need all the engine accessories, radiator, any AC stuff (if you want it), V8 fuel pump in the tank, engine, transmission, engine wiring harness, ECM, possibly dash harness, possibly driveshaft, and then the other "little" things that are going to be a pain. It's best to either a) swap in a carbureted 350, b) sell the V6 car and get one with a V8 already in it.

jr. is right again all the money ur gonna spend on a new v8 n tranny plus all the other krap u r just better off buying a v8 car. n if u dont want to get a new car n ur lookin for some power like 300+ u should think about getting a 350 or bigger.
