so im getting my 3rd gen in two weeks.

first things im going to do
-grab a stock hood from a junkyard and get rid of the flimsy fiberglass cowl induction hood he has. any chance there were any models that came stock with cowl induction?
-grab some new door panels with the door handle hardwear
-new paint but thats going to be next spring at least.
-maybe a future tpi upgrade for the carb'd 305. would the wiring harness for the tpi plug straight into the chassis wiring?

1. no camaro in the third gen came with a cowel hood. you can get a IROC hood, those look the best IMO.

2. that wiring harness will need to be completely replaced. not to mention the fuel pump, sensors of varying types, and the obvious TPI setup.

but im working on getting a 350 bored .60 over to run with a TPI setup in my camaro. it isnt difficult, just a bit pricey

the iroc hoods are the ones with what look like ribs in the middle right?

Whats so flimsy about the cowl hood?

82-83 Z28's came with fiberglass hoods, and the crossfire injection cars came with a form of a ram air system with an electric motor that opens two flaps.

Its really not worth "upgrading" to a TPI system, 350rs is just a dumbass.

(I still love you though buddy! -lol-)

i thought there was a 305 tpi. thats what i was gonna put on. and its just awkward because of how careful you need to be to open and close the hood

its not my fault your force feeding that damn holly to everybody. TPI is a great system if you want to take the time to make it work right.

come out of the stone ages..

yea, its a nice setup. i dont know of many people who got rid of their TPI in favor of a carb or anything like that. TPI is a good system no if ands or buts about it

I agree, it is a great system, but IMHO, for the hell of it, its not worth doing if you already have a carb setup. But if I was doing a project and had to chose, carb all the way. Less BS to mess with and less to go wrong, you cant get your carb engine running, check the fuel, spark, and compression.

it runs great. i would just prefer fuel injection at this moment in time. but question. is the carbs on the 87 305 computer controled? or are they old school and strictly controled by themselves
