Default snaped my driveline

alright so i took the 305 and 700r4 out of my 89 rs camaro. I put a 350 chev in with a 4 barrel carb,MSD dis, 8 mill spark plug wires, and the biggest rv cam i could find at delta. A turbo350 behind it, now my tranny didn't want to shift at first, so i replaced the vaccum modulator. Now it snaped the drive line, i'm wonderin if i need a high strength driveline? Or did me making my own driveline and reheating the metal make it to brittle to take the torque? Need some advice here thanks. BTW no my weld did not break, the steel was ripped apart about 6-8 inches below the weld.

I would guess it wasn't the correct length and something bound up and the weakest part broke. FYI, you could have mated your 350 to that 700R4 and would have been just fine.

the 700r4 is longer then a short tail TH350. It is about the same length as a longtail TH350

I want to know more about the cam and vacuum modulator. I have a huge cam in my C10 and it shifts at like 5k RMPs. I freaking hate it.

Sorry, wasn't trying to jack your thread.

Could the driveline have been out of balance?
Cars running 600hp don't break drivelines? even with slicks.

At this point I am confused. The drive line is made up of many parts (transmission, drive shaft, U joints, rear axle, etc..) and no one wants to fess up as to which sectionh broke. lol

^ I know, that's why I asked too. He never said just exactly what "snaped".

sorry sorry the front yoke that 'dogs' into the tranny, 4 7/16 inches. behind that snapped. The steel itself was ripped apart. ummm the driveline tube ripped apart. BTW should i get a machine shop to make me a race driveline, or make one meself? I kin do it. Like i said i went to delta cam and said" i want the biggest god damn rv cam you have for a chevy 350". The anwser was " here you go, we call it a stage 3 rv camshaft." The vaccum modulator was old and worn out, if you buy a new vaccum mod. for your c10, or check yours. I bought a replacement one and i can turn it clockwise to prevent slippage, or in other words " shift sooner". Counter clockwise to prevent hard shifting "shift later". My vaccum mod. came with instructions on exactly how to do this, Mine says two full turns then test drive, two more full turns and test drive. That doesn't help go to tranny shop, no maker which direction you take.

Ohhhhhhhhh, your driveshaft tore apart. Got it now. Not knowing exactly what you did to make your own driveshaft, I can't say what caused it to rip apart. A 350, even with the biggest gd rv cam, should not rip apart a stock driveshaft. But you altered yours, since it needed to be lengthened. How did you go about doing that, by splicing it (eek)?
