I thought I stole a beautiful 88 Camaro RS from a kid that lives not too far from me. Little did I know 3weeks later the trans blew. It was an auto but I decided I was gonna look for a quote on putting a 4speed in it. $3000 wasnt sounding so good so my last resort to holding gears is a slap shift. I was just wondering if anyone has gotten a quote or actually put a slap shift into a 3rd gen. I'd also like to know if it dropped right in or if it took some custom fitting.

 

What you are talking about is a ratchet shifter, B&M should have one that bolts right in your car. Yes doing a auto to manual conversion is costly, why you would put a 4 speed in when you could get a 5 or even a 6 speed, I do not know.

 

Alright so I started looking into this. Correct me if I am wrong but this product allows me to put any 4speed manual listed on the compatability into a car without and clutch and shift using the ratchet shifter?

None of the transmissions that are listed are manuals, they are all automatics. A ratchet shifter allows you to shift an auto trans one gear at a time without miss shifting, they have nothing to do with a manual trans.
