This seems a bit odd...

Hey third gen guys, fourth gen owner here that might be looking into jumping in the third gen group as well.

I found this thing here locally... 6-speed auto? Iroc with it being a state patrol car? Something doesn't sound right.

He's also listing it as a "B46 special production Camaro". I called him to see what he has to say about the supposed "6 speed auto" (I know these cars came with the 700r4) and he claims it's an option that available to the police vehicles. Hmmm.

Weren't all the police interceptor cars based on RS or Z/28 base models?

GM first automatic 6speed was built 2006. In 1991 I was GM trained tech and I worked on cop cars. I never heard of any Auto 6 speed options. If they had an option like that it would have shown up in the Vet first.

I thought as much based on limited research. We'll call the bluff later today, going by to look at it.

I had a moron tell me he had a 5 speed automatic once. He was counting reverse LOL. He was so sure he had a rare 5 speed automatic,,,, Maybe this guy is counting R and N as speeds.

It Probably cost GM 100 Million dollars to fully develop the 6 speed automatic. Every Single one of the hundreds of parts takes special tooling to make. Even very simple clips can cost 25k in tooling. So the idea that they made a new transmission in 91 and only put them is Camaro cop cars is funny.

It would be possible to retro fit a 6 speed automatic then buy or make a mega squire controller for it.

**** was a scam or something. I started messaging him here to come by and see it. All of a sudden the listing is taken down, and he starts saying, "When are you coming by to pick it up" after discussing coming to look at it yesterday. I asked what he meant, and said to buy and drive it. Haha. I mentioned what we talked about, and he just dropped off the side of the planet.

Yeah this guy is getting reported. Wondering if I should get hold of local authorities as well, because he was using his actual phone number.

-edit--
Sound's more like he's trying to get people to show up with cash and then mug them or something.

Sometimes I wonder about craigs list, I am looking for a winter unit, I texted a guy about a 2004 Trailblazer with 150k on the clock for 2K. It was listed as new inspection and a V8 but not your normal click bait add, it even had a ripped seat. I asked when can I see it, He text replied Saturday and sent me an address, it was an apartment building. I showed up on time and texted him is was there. Nothing back. I figured he sold it and was not man enough to tell me. The next day the add get renewed? I report it, again the next day, I report it, on the 4th day the year and mileage changed.

What do they get out of that? For me not a big deal. It was a 10 minute drive. Did he not do anything cause I am 6'1" 300 lbs? No way could he have seen my gun :)

Yeah I make it a point not to go look at anything on craigslist without my CC on me. Either my 1911, my XDS, or my Bersa. People man... there has to be a better way for them to make money.
