Purchased 88 iroc and have some questions
Hi folks, i live in pissing wet scotland! i have just bought my wife a 88 iroc-z 5.7 tpi with 72000mls on the clock and i have a few questions i was wondering if anyone could answer them?
1 it has grey leather interior with electric drivers seat and have never seen this interior on any others over here is it a common interior?
2 do all the 3rd gens come with an aluminium drive shaft?
3 on a run i am getting approx 28mpg @ 75mph (thats an imperial gallon 4.54 liters) is this the norm or do i need a tune up?
4 i have ordered new t roof seals, are they a complete pig to fit?
thanks for your time

1. If you have a picture, it would be easier to see if they are Camaro seats. They may have been a transplant.
2. No.
3. If I did my math right, that would be 1.2 U.S. gallons, which would come out to about 23.5 US mpg. Maybe a tune-up could help. My 91 RS (TBI) would get 27 mpg on a road trip while averaging 75~80 mph.
4. If you're handy, it won't be that bad to do. The tops will be a tight fit for a while, and it would help if you could do them on a hot sunny day (if you ever get those over in pissy wet Scotland).

A tune-up couldn't hurt, but it probably won't improve your gas mileage by much.

REMOVING the T-TOP seals is the worst part. Mine were held in place with some super space age nuclear bomb proof glue. I spent the better part of two weeks scraping every last inch of the old weatherstripping out.
So, pardon me asking this ignorant and ethnocentric question, but how plentiful are parts for this car over there? Are Chevys rare? Im under the impression that everyone there drives Mini Coopers and MG's and little cars with 'ahooooga' horns. 8*) Please forgive me.

Hey no probs... yeah there are a lot of minis over here they are branded as "hairdressers" cars lots of subarus evos etc.
There is however a large american/hotrod scene and parts are fairly easy to get my own car is a 1959 ford consul (medium 4 door sedan) with a 6/71 blown ally headed all forged 350/350 combo running 3.93 gears and a truetrac, quite lively on the road.
you guys are really lucky fuel costs £6 a gallon (about $8.50) and we have what is called an mot test (annual roadworthiness) which is very strict as to chassis, brakes, lights, emmisions etc! i wish i lived on your side of the pond!

My 86 Camaro Z-28 also has grey leather seats, as well as the driver side power seat option. Not sure if this is a "rare" interior. But I would be curious to see pictures to compare our interiors...?
