Call a locksmith, he has the tools and can do the job in less then 15 minutes in my garage....or try it yourself and hope for the best. Personally I went the locksmith route and it was worth the $75.00.

dont count on it being that cheap. the 90 has the vats key, which will require ecm work or deactivation of the vats system if using a new key or chaning the cylinder. it is possible to deactivate the vats system, i think there is a write up on it here. now as far as removing the steering wheel, i dont think that is required to change the cylinder.

You will have to remove the wheel to get at the retaining screw that holds the cylinder inplace. It is right under the turn signal switch. Back in the day I could have a cylinder out in about 5 minutes.

They could back in 92 but It would have to from the dealer the car came from. I do not think the dealer where required to keep that info more then 10 years. That was before large computer databases. But by all means check it out. They may have hade some system at GM that got upgraded since... I remember parts guys looking up paper files for Key code.

The dealer will charge a fortune for a new key.
Measure the resistance of the VAT on your key.
Find the appropriate range of resistance on E-Bay motors,
and you can get a key for a dime on the dollar.
Follow the instructions on the E-Bay page.
You can buy me a 6 pack later!
