Hmm... Ok heres basically what I want to build

High output between 300 - 500HP/TQ with decent fuel economy and good TQ through the RPM range, It has to be good for a reliable daily driver

(decent being I get at lest a min of 12MPG, 20 would be nice to I think it may be wishfull thinking. ATM I'm getting 30MPG right not believe it or not)

Yes Im build the suspension and driveline systems to hold the power

 

If you are looking for 300 HP with street manners and decent gas mileage you really should look into a LT1 convertion. you can find low milage engine/tranny/computer systems for less then 2K. It will mean a lot more research on your parts but in the end you will have a very fun ride and IMO you would be increaseing the value of the car as long as you do a nice convertion. Even if you took the LT1 from 245 to 300HP (pretty easy upgrade)you would still see 20 MPG.

 

Ah, I've heard about the LT1 Engine before and That actually sounds like a good plan. Thanks!. Hmm... Wasnt it the Chevy Trucks that had the LT1 engine in it?

 

Yes the LT1 was the work horse of the 70's, It came back in the 93 Z28 and was the preformance v8 for chevy until 97. In 98 the LS1 took over. Ls1 is a complete new design while the LT1 will bolt up in your car.

 

Ah ok, That works for me and straight bolt up short of the wiring Which It easy enough to do (For me anyways) Thanks alot! Now to find one of those engines somewhere.

 

Don't get the guy confused now. The early 70's was a LT-1 and later was LT1. Two different engines. The later (LT1) is easy to see the difference. First big thing you will see is the distributor behind the electric water pump.

 

I actually caught that one after I left this site to read up on it in wiki. But I see what you pointing at about it anyways, I'm hoping I can find one here at the local auto wreckers for cheap with the ECU and stuff. I found some newer Votrec TPI motor from some 2000 and up truck tho the 200Kmiles didnt seem worth the $800.

(Quick non-related question, what is the TQ Specs for the stock exhaust manifold?)

 

Bolt torque?
Inner bolts 20-32
Outer 14-26 ftlbs
