being a 20th anniversary IROC, it will fetch a little more than your average third gen. Is it a convert?

with NO engine thats worth anything though. Its all in the condition of the rest of the car. if everything else is perfect.. i probably wouldnt go over 2k though

Tell them you will tow it away for $1000. Give them your phone number and don't try to deal with them and walk away. The car may be worthless with everything removed from the engine bay.

I havnt had a chance to actually go look at it I seen it from the road and it looked clean but then again its white which makes it hard to tell from a distance. I think its a tpi car they said the heads were rebuilt which doesnt mean a whole lot to me since the engine I have sitting is a vortec head set up with a carb. Would it be a tough conversion not using the tpi? I would think the fuel pump/ computer might be an issue. I do think even if the car was perfect without the original engine some of the value would be lost... also I think the car has over 120000 miles on it. Ill take a look at it tomarrow.

Here is one over 3k but it has a fresh rebuild that cost atlease 2K

From what I am seeing the only 3rd gens bringing any real money are the numbers matching original in Cherry condition. If the block is junk it will never be numbers matching and it will be a very long time before that car will be worth much at all. But it is worth what you or someone else is willing to pay.

I never go buy what sells on ebay for a value reference. Dumb azz buyers will over pay on some thing just to take it from another bidder. They think that makes them a winner.
It may be a 20th anniversary, big whooping deal! (that also marks the date for 75 years of Chevrolet)The motor is toast so it willl not be all original.
If the body and interior are sweet $1000.
In fact don't even consider 20 years as a factor. Its not 25 or 50 years that would be a traditional date to commemorate. If memory serves me there was not even any special badging for the 20th.

I do go to the local auction once a month but I did not want to hurt anyone's feelings. People always think their car is worth more then it is.Salesman walk a fine line when making a deal, offer them to little and they take offence offer them to much and they can not close the deal cause they can not drop the price of the car enough. The 3rd auction that sold for $3800 would go for under $2500 whole sale. I use Ebay here cause it only takes a few clicks and its hard to argue that a 87 with a blown motor is worth anywhere neara complete cherry car with a fresh rebuild. You show up a a auto auction with a near perfect 87 with iroc, 120K mile, without a motor I would expect it to go for about $500.

IROCs are definitely on the rise but no way is a car with no engine worth $3000. The $500 that Gorn mentioned sounds about right.

Even parted out the car might sell for around $1000 if you could find a buyer for every little piece. The main chunk of that cash would be the 5.7 so if that was missing...
