Powerful 305 TPIs?
Hey Guys,
Have any of yall built up a 305 TPI andruns better then what you expected, or is does the 305 have no hope? I have a 305 TPI in mine, along with a bunch of mods. This is my first car, so it's fast to me, but I hearthe 305 is adisgrace. I don't wanna stroke it out, or use bottles. Just Motor, Turbo or SC is alright, but I want to know how much you could get simply on the motor. |

looks nice man but u can get around 300 320hp if u spend ur cash wisly, look at the 3rd gen V8 tech page and ull see the light.

you dont wanna stroke a 305. Cuz 305's only have 2 bolt main caps, and you need 4 bolt main caps for that much torque. Dont hold me to this someone correct me if I am wrong. But I think all 305's are 2 bolt main caps.

your right but wrong lots of people stroke 2 bolt 350's with no issue's the thing with the lo3 305 is that it already has a bigger stroke then the other versions because it shares the same cam as the 350 with smaller pistons which = more compression you can build horsepower based on that alone. the stock lo3 305s problem is restriction exhaust heads and in take can make that motor a totally different motor

But the thing with 2 bolt mains is that its not good for high rpm's, once that crank starts floating, its not good.

thats where quality parts and know how come into play on the stock crank though you are totally right
