Default Plastic Radiators

Why is it everywhere I go. I cant find a " good ol' cheap aluminum " radiator ? And if I can even find an aluminum the prices are outragous.
Incase you are lost and have no idea or even a hint of why I need a radiator. Read my previous post titled " Lacking Power ".
But anywho, my radiator (that of which is plastic might I add) is blown. The hole is about the side of two fists. But I just hope that I dont have a blown engine 50 / 60 miles from home. My dad is supposed to come and get me w/ a tow dolly. Lets just hope that I still have a car. I'll reply whenever the moment of truth appears.

uuuummmm, if anything is plastic, its only going to be the side tanks. the actual fins are not plastic. and if you are looking for an alum. rad, napa has them from $130

That is what I am talking about. The side tanks . That is the part of mine that has a hole in it. Thats why I want ALL alum.Even the side tanks. I dont want a radiator that is plastic w/ alum core. I would actually be happy with brass. But my budget is around 100 - 150 . preferably around 130 or 140 bucks. thanks so much

"Good" and "Cheap" usualy don't go together. If you do see them together you might hear later "You get what you pay for".
The Early Radiators are brass. My 84 had brass in it. But the aluminum disipates heat better. And you can buy a tank and gasket and fix it yourself.

Yesterday, I pulled the water pump and the fan + fan shroud, and the radiator. The whole driverside side tank is practically cracked from top to bottom .... this is no slight crack. Its actually huge! The plastic part of the tank is barely being held on. But here is another question how can I get rust out of my engine. Aswell as radiator sealer. Who ever had the car before I did. Was a dumbass. And put radiator sealer in it instead of going and buy a radiator. So even when i change my antifreeze. Which I have done 2 or 3 times. It is still black. And I cant tell if it is oil or if its that gunk they put in it . Although I am pretty sure it isnt oil because oil floats on top of water. And I dont see that. So how can I get it out ?

As for the radiator, the place where I am staying has a autozone so I went there and priced them an aluminum radiator is 101.99 . Which is VERY good lol.

Thx for all your help

Pull out the Tstat and put it back together. Run some water from the hose through it to flush as much as you can. Hook everything back up and get some of the radiator flush and run it through then after the engine cools drain it and run the water hose again. Install a new tstat and coolant and go.

But see, the problem is. I have done all of that even bought the flush. And I have repeated this 2 or 3 times. And yet still all of it isnt out. Parents just brought me a new radiator ( alum. for 101.99 ), water pump, starter, thermostat, fan switch, a belt, and coolant.

Will talk more on this when I have obtain more sleep lol. until tomorrow goodnight.

thx for the help again,

Chris
