The flexible hose is a heat riser from the manifold, but it doesn't flow exhaust through it. The hose connects to a tin shroud on the exhaust manifold and heat radiates up inside to heat up the incoming air on a cold engine. The hose to the valve on the air cleaner horn is connected to a vacuum port on the TBI unit. With the aftermarket air cleaner, all that stuff gets disconnected and you want to cap off the port on the TBI.

I got it off ebay, it was a nice piece for the money. Don't remember which vendor, but here are a few choices:

Where did you get the air cleaner base at camaro 69? Because I am also wanting to do the same with my camaro

 

I got mine off ebay, search for 14" ball milled air cleaner. Be sure to look at the descriptions and/or pictures. Some of them have a dropped base, you want a flat base.
