Default New Parts....part two

After replacing my front steering parts, I thought it was time to replace the struts & shocks on my 87 IROC-Z. The original Factory stock Bilsteins are now over 22yrs old. After checking prices, I got a case of sticker shock for new Bilsteins $800+ for front and rears. No matter how good they are they are not worth that price to me. So after good amount of reseach & price checking I am going with the following:

Front Struts KYB-236001 GR-2
RearShocks KYB-KG5562 Gas-a-Just

Summit Racing & Tirerack were the best sources and having bought from both in the past they are good vendors. However; I went with Summit due to lower shipping charges, $193.00 total.
Ordered two days ago and on scheldule for 5/15 delivery (very fast).

Will be installing next week and results will be Posted.

Update on the Spohn Steering kit. Works great and a good buy for anyone needing Steering work.

Installed the KYB struts & shocks today and the ride and handling is improved over my dead 22yr Bilsteins. I have not drove it hard on twisting roads (hard to find in Florida) but it makes hard 90deg turns without leaning or tire squealing. Last of my big part swaps.

You still happy with that front suspension setup from spohn? Im getting to that point in the next month or so and it seems like a decent deal. Plus it looks nice.

I am very happy with the Spohn Front Supension Kit, well worth the money. Everything fit and 100% improvement over my wore out originals. Make sure you also get the lower ball joints ( a bear to get out unless you have the right tools) but they need replacing also. Better then some 3rd gen parts that you have to custom fit..

You may save a few dollars running around trying to put the parts together yourself, but is it worth it????

Better look at your struts & shocks, my IROC had orignal Bilsteins so they lasted longer then later models original supension parts.

I actually ended up with Monroe Sensa-Tracs on mine. Cheap, and a decent shock.

Thumbs down

After my research on Struts & Shocks, I did not even consider that brand. But I guess everyone has their opinion, and mine is they rank at the bottom with Gabriel brand.
