Default need your opinion

I wanted to know something and get your opinion on this

I have an 88 iroc-z it had a 305 tpip , but the guys who sold it to me said it would be better to get a 305 carb instead , now after reading some posts on here and seeing the hp the tpi 305 had , im wodering did I get screwed with this , will I have more problems and less hp wiht the carb , this 305 carb comes from his cutless supreme headers and all , he has about 200-210hp right now , did I make the wrong desicion on taking out the 305 tpi ?

also what advanatge or disatvatage dose the carb have ?

Nooooooooooo- tpi is alot better on gas, and its about 210-220 hp stock!! so ya tpi is better.carbs need alot of adjusting and are more troublsome! the only prob with tpi is that they are a little more sensetive (i think i spelled it right) but if you ever have trouble all you have to do is get the codes.also there are also alot of low price upgrades for the tpi.GOOD LUCK! let me know how she runs.i would keep the tpi! I have a 89 350 tpi iroc and its treated me pretty good.

first of all does your car still have the computer in it? if not it would probably be alot less hassle to put a carbed motor in it. i have seen people putting used motors and computers together and having neverending problems. you can get just as much horsepower from a carbed motor as you can a TPI. carbed motors are alot easier to troubleshoot and work on for someone that does there own repairs. using a carbed motor you don't have to worry with getting the computer upgraded everytime you add a mod. now my opinion is bias. i'm sure there will be some that say just the opposite. good luck either way you go. sick
