Need some advice
So I just recently purchased my first car. A stock 1990 Camaro Rs 5.0 v8 and my friend instantly took it that i was one upping him. He has a stock 2006 mustang v6 and said he wants to race and he will beat my ***. I dont see the point in racing him though cause if i win. Wow i beat a v6 and if i lose then wow i lost to a v6. Do you think i would win or what? I have like 20 more horsepower but its also 16 years older. Any advice would help.

Tell your friend to get a life. You didn't buy a car that was 16 yrs older than his to one up him, what's he thinking? You have a v8 but by no means is it a performance car. His v6 has more technology and might be quicker than your worn out 305. Tell him to give it a rest, it's not a race car.

But, since it's stock, and probably an auto, then he's around 165 RWHP. You are also stock, older and tired and an auto tranny. You also probably have 2.73:1 gears. You might get him the first 50-60 feet because of greater low end torque but you'll see his headlights.
Road and track, with a good driver and heating the tires got a stock sixer with manny tranny to run 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Since your friend has an auto, he'll be in the 7's but still quicker than you
Of course you'll be doing this at a 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile track on not on the street.
In the area where I live, we just saw an AWESOME 19 year old driver lose his life and those of his 3 passengers because he was operating a vehicle at a higher rate of speed than his experience, and the conditions permited.
