I'm not too sure on what code 42 is, but any decent manual will spell out what conditions bring on that code. As far as oil loss, is this from a leak or through blow by in the motor?

Code 42, could be one or more than one:
1) Electronic spark timing (EST) circuit: open or shorted.
2) Direct ignition system (DIS) fault: bypass circuit open or shorted to ground during engine run.
3) Fuel cutoff relay circuit: open or shorted to ground.
For starters, you need to go on an electrical witch hunt and check all your related wiring for corroded connections, disconnections, broken/cut wires, etc.
Also, since this isn't a project build thread, I'm moving it to the general 3rd gen section.
