Default My poor car has been bogging down

It's been happening in second and third gear. I don't really know how to describe it.. i will be accelerating and it will suddenly bog down. only for a second and everything will be back to normal. my check engine light instantly comes on after it happens, but when i start her back up the light won't come on again. it only ever happens once after the engine is on. never seems to happen more than once. but it doesn't always happen.

You know how on a motorcycle, when you release the gas it slows you down, almost like you're breaking? it feels the same.

does this sound familiar to anybody? its a hard problem to describe without experiencing it yourself.

any suggestions? =/. I'm at a loss.. maybe a fuel issue?

TIA you guys always come through for me

89 camaro rs, 2.8L v6 fuel injected

sounds like it could be a sensor issue. im not all that familiar to that engine, but i think it runs a mass air flow sensor. check the connections to that and to all other sensors. when was the last time it was given a tune up? also, try pulling the code. theres a thread around here somewhere how to do the code blink test

take a paper clip insert it in the top right hand two pins and count the blinks. refer to a code book to tell you what the blinks mean

hey sorry it's taken me so long to respond. i used my code reader on ECM and it told me 3 blinks pause 4 blinks. which i believe is code 34 which is MAF sensor. poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit; defective MAF sensor; defective ECM.

any tips on how to tell if my MAF sensor is defective? what about the other suggestions it gave me?
thanks for the help guys you are always insightful

check the plug on the maf to make sure its tight and clean, no corrosion. if so, go to a junkyard and get one for $5 or $10 and run that. if that doesnt fix it, then there is something with the wiring or ecm and requires more in depth work

you would need to hook it up to a sofisticated diagnostic machine and have the grams per second read to make sure. thats going to cost about $60 minimum at a shop. just find one at a junkyard and test it out. if it corrects the issue, then youre golden. if not, you can start looking over the wiring harness or take it to a shop. before doing either, check the wiring where it goes over the belt. i have seen them come loose and have rubbed through the wires by touching the belt
