Default my new camaro

i recently bought a 88 camaro for 1600 with a v-8. i beleive its a 5.7 ltr but not for sure. the car needs some work done but all in all a good running car. except after I drive it around for a while, it will start cutting out, like im out of gas. the motor is tbi and it has an awkward looking spoiler on the back. smaller then the iroc & z28. can anyone help me and tell me more about my motor?

also it only says camaro on the rear bumper, no pwr windows and registers 115.

Well welcome to the forum. Definately post some pics. It sounds like your fuel pump is what ales you. You could also have a bad fuel filter.

the car really needs plugs, wires, and timing fixed, could it still be fuel pump/filter?

Yeah it could still need the pump/filter. It is cheaper to go with the plugs and wires so try that first.

well i just went out there and moved it for some pictures, and when i turned it off a little white smoke came out from the xaust. and a screw is out on the top of my valve cover, and a little smoke was coming out of it. i just topped it off with some oil treatment also. is this just from a need of an oil change?

It could be, how low was your oil? I would get a new valve cover gasket and a new bolt for it. Oil can steam, but it seems like some is getting burnt. Make sure your antifreeze is full because there could be a coolant leak. White is USUALLY antifreeze/water and a slight blueish haze is oil and black smoke is too much fuel.

ive never seen black or blue smoke, neither has friends behind me. i believe it was a quart low. and for the bolt, it straight on top of it, not actually holding the gasket down.

There isn't a 350 tbi That came stock with the 88, it's probable the 305 tbi. What's the 8th number/letter in your vin?

Replace the fuel filter. It's likely never been done before, and it probably should be anyway. And don't buy a fram, or purolator. Fuel filters are cheap, but you should still do the rest of the tune up, as well as check for coolant leaks into the oiling system.
