My first 3rd Gen Camaro
Had a old project 72 nova that I posted on craigslist, and this guy ended up emailing me wanting to trade up even. Feel like I came out on the better end of the deal. It's a 1982 Camaro, Newly rebuild sbc 400, with ***** thumpr cam, 700R trans, .373 gears, new paint, and flowmaster exhaust. I only had $1,500 in the Nova. This is my first 3rd Gen Camaro and I love it, it's my everyday driver.

Hard to tell exactly, but from that pic it looks like you made out pretty well! How did you verify it had a 400? There are a lot of good liars out there and the 400 isn't the most common sbc out there these days.
I would definitely verify the block. Its rare for someone to give up a 400 just like that. But car looks great. Good luck. The trans isn't the strogest. It's actually very weak if you romp on it much. You Kay want to upgrade the clutches and bands. Kevlar is a good place to start along with a manual valve body, strong shift kit and a SSTC. You really need the cam specs to get the proper TC.
How different externally is the 400 Vs. the 305 it came with?
Here is a picture of the sbc 400 and picture of the interior. I did verify today that it is for a fact a 400 four bolt main. It has been bored .30 over. This is a old picture of the motor. I replaced the carb. with a holley 750 and changed the breather. I'm enjoying the car so far. I have another 700R that I am having rebuilt that will handle 500hp so it will be sitting there waiting for this one to go, cause I know it's just a matter of time.
How did you verify the block size? I am not doubting you or trying to sound like a ****, but unless you ran numbers or saw the stamping by distributor...which is a little tough to see with motor in the car you won't be able to quickly verify by external appearances. The whole setup looks pretty good!
