Default Looking to buy first Camaro

I am looking to buy my first Camaro. I have settled on a third gen. Can you owners please tell me what kind of fuel milage you are getting. I have found some 2.8 cars and 305 car in my price range. How does the 2.8 perform. I know it only a V6 but is it a total dog? I know it will not have V8 performance but is it ok. I found a nice 2.8 car that was fully restored in 04. It is at the top of my price range. but also found lots of projects. I really needs something that i can drive and do small projects. I already have a 4x4 blazer with a bbc in the blown apart project form.

yes, the 2.8 is a dog. pretty much no matter what you do, its not going to perform anywhere near the 305. it is also a bit time consuming to swap from the v6 to a v8. i used to get 22 mpg with my camaro. i usually stayed out of the gas, but it was mostly open, hilly 45 mph roads with a traffic light every couple of miles. it would only drop to 21 with the a/c on. i did have 2.73 gears, so even at 85 on the highway, it never went much over 2k rpms.

I get 11-12

But thats on a well worked 350 and a REAL heavy foot....

And a V6 in a Camaro is like a hot chick with no Vajajay. I guess its fun to look at but no fun to ride....

Sorry. Too much?

Haha. The stock 305 is a total dog. The 2.8 is slower than new Civics.

its not a total dog. my 305 still breaks tires loose easily with 275000 miles on it and a q-jet that has some...uh...major issues. i would imagine after i do the tbi swap in a couple weeks itll be much more alive than it is now. its just not as good as the 350. but even the 350 isnt too much more powerful stock for stock. just easier to build for sure

15 second 1/4 is a dog. Back in the smog days they were considered quick. Compared to today's standards, 180hp from a V8 is plain pathetic.

well yeah different technology. more refined smog techniques. but in 92 the 305 was putting out 230 hp. the 350 was putting out 245 hp. not far off. and honestly for an economy v8 i think kinda good

a bro....
im happy with my 305...
its only got 127k and it runs like new...
mine still pulls pretty f-n hard, with the headers, built th350, posi, w/3;73s it scoots...leaves stripes w/it bangs second, and barks 3rd like my old 383 stroker did in my gmc so its plenty, for me anyway....lol
