Default IRS for the 3rd Gen

I was asked about putting a IRS in a 3rd Gen on a European car forum, the guys who asked is planning on having one imported and wants to modify it for track use and ask me because I own a '86 IROC.

Id like to know if it could be done and what the donor would be.

aside from back halving the car and fabbing in a corvette rear end, i dont see any possible way to bolt one in. using the factory frame and body, i dont see any possible way to make it work

A guy put a C5 rear end in a 3rd gen on TGO. It was far from being a bolt in, it required quite a bit of fab work.

It is not impossible if you have enough money. But in the real world of 3rd Gen cars it is not worth it.
