Instrument cluster gauges
Just recently i,ve noticed my oil pressure gauge, running alot higher than normal! or higher than i believe, with just off idle acceleration the gauge pegs out past 60 psi, i have had the cluster out many times and the contacts are clean and mated well. So i'am installing a mechanical oil pressure gauge. My question is there a tap back by the distributor that i can run off of or do i have to make one? being that the sender is electrical, i will thank you all in advance, for any and all help received, going to mount the bracket, this labor day morning, but it's a labor of love working on my car. you all take care now.

RE: Instrument cluster gauges
There usualy is a location by the distributor for one. I know my 84 had it there but my 91 has the sender by the filter now.
Why don't you replace the sender? They do go bad. I have had the inside of a mechanical gauge leak before. It was just a flat, brass tube that was coiled andwould fill with oil and straighten with the pressure. All the movement has got to weaken and break that. |
RE: Instrument cluster gauges
yes i would try the sender before anything, i think i paid $25 at napa here for one, or ti might have been a advance auto parts im not sure, but i would od that before running a oil line into the car.
