Default HP?

HI
There is a 85 camaro at a car garage and I'm interested in buying it.
I haven't speaked directly to the owner but someone that knows about the car.
It was built specifically to drag race,
the owner says it has a, 455,buck Ross build.
I have never heard of this build and cant find much information on it
has anybody heard of it?
The owner says it puts out 600HP, and 1000HP on NOS!
which is a crazy number.
It has a 9 bolt rear end,
sub frame connectors,
The owner said the engine was built exactly out of a magazine article.
4000$ transmission,
so do any of y'all think it has that much horsepower or is he bluffing?
I'm going to tell him I will take it too get dynoed
and If it doesn't dyno a 600HP
my offer will be much less
he has the price at 4000$
but a guy there said he is itching to sell it.
opinions?

Listen to it run. You can easily tell if it's within the ballpark if you know what you're listening to.

probably not 600hp... some times round numbers are thrown out like that just because they sound good. like the guy that tried to sell me an lt1 bird "with a chip that makes 400hp".
I looked at him. Turned around. Got in my car. Left. lol

hes probably yankin ur chain, but 4k isnt that expensive if the car is in good shape with a decent motor in it.

Nine bolt rear and 600HP? I don't think that's possible. The 600 horses would tear rip the nuts off of that nine bolt! I don't think its over 400 or 500 if that. Over one horse power per cubic inch is a lot and one and a third is quite a bit. I would be sceptical of his power range but, just as Specter said if the car is in good shape grab it.

No, and it also only weighed about 3000 pounds and what kind of suspension does it have to be able to take 1000HP on NOS, sub frame connectors are not going to hold that car together.
