You said the mixture is good, what about timing? Are your plugs good?

Timing is in the 12 to 14 degree range. (Monkey'd with it a bit a while back when I was having the pinging issues. like I said, 93 octane fixed that)

Plugs are Accell shorty's.

You might want to research the plugs, the length of the ceramic is directly related to the heat range - perhaps the plugs are the culprit?

Ill look into that, but I really think its my cheap a$$ headers. I put them on the original 305. They were ebay bargains, I think they were some Summit universal fitment kit. I wanted to go as cheap as possible because I had no intention of keeping the car..well here I am 4 years later!

Im going to try some venting ideas in the meantime....

Scott, just wrap the headers man. I'm running Jegs headers that were $90 bucks brand new, so we're in the same boat there. The headers are going to be the biggest heat source under the hood, and wrapping them will cut down the underhood temps by up to 30%.

Now that I am re-reading the thread... the headers might be the problem too... good luck, let us know how it works out.

I wrapped the headers today. What a joyous event THAT was. Did you know there are a few spots that cannot be reached on those headers while they are in the car? Therefore, I have a few gaps around the collector area. Man they smoked like a mofrugger for the first 15 minutes. Ill be taking her out in a few minutes to see if there is any difference. Ill let yall know.....

I wrapped the headers, poorly I might add. The wrap did very little. I still vapor locked, only it took about 5 minutes longer this time. Im going to check the temp guages tomo and probably install an aftermarket temp guage. Then Im going to relocate the fuel line (but where can I run it up the pass side thats not close to the header?) Ive also got a fuel cooler but the fittings are AN type and nobody here sells that stuff.

I think that when this is all said and done, Ill be needing a bigger radiator....boooooo!!!
