Gauge Pod installation.

Got an 86 Camaro, and need to install a gauge pod. Anyone done this work on their 3rd gen car? I've purchased a tach, oil pressure, and water temp gauge.
Engine is a 2.8L V6, and need to know if there are free ports to connect these electrical gauges. I am leery of pulling the OEM stuff, due to issues with the computer.

for the temp gauge you will have to remove stock temp gauge sensor
there should be 2 of them 1 for the stock gauge and 1 for the comp
same goes for the oil pressure
and the tach wires either into the dist or coil. read the supplied instructions with the tach

I see the sensors, but which one is which? My car has idiot lights, not gauges, so it's difficult to determine which one I'm pulling. Also, isn't there a temp sensor that controls the cooling fan? Would that make it three sensors, or is the one that goes to the computer handle that function also?

the way i check to see which is which when it comes to the temp would be to start it then disconnect while running should be a change in how it runs as the comp will get false reading and adjust the air fuel accordingly as for oil pressure look for a threaded plug near the oil filter if nothing is hooked up there use it. if there is then look close by theres usually another

if you haven't figured out the water temp sensor thing. then remove the water temp sensor on the drivers side head and put it there. if you dont have a stock temp gauge that sensor is just a backup for the first.

hopefully your oil pressure system isnt like my 305 im trying to install one now and there is no place to put it other than the stock location and the stock location is too big.

but on the 2.8 heads at the back ive found oil pressure plugs on drivers side and ive seen oil pressure gauges put there many times on the s-10 pickups from the 80s

oh...btw i found 3 temp sensors on my car, 1 oil pressure and no free oil pressure ports >.<

Are they mechanical or electrical gauges?

New gauges are electrical. Pulled one sensor, that one went to the ECM. There is another next to it, not sure what it does.
