Fuel Pump Location???

Does anyone know exactly where the fuel pump is located in the gas tank of a 90 camaro? I need to know so I don't have to drill all over the place to get to the fuel pump. Is it easier to drop the tank than locate it? Thanks for any help.

RE: Fuel Pump Location???

I was told by someone that I had to drop the rear end to be able to drop the gas tank. Is this true? My car is stranded out of town so I can't look to see.

Thanks

actually im pretty sure, an easier way would be to just rip the carpet up in the trunk and cut the metal open in a big rectangle, thatll make it so much easier for you

I agree just cut a hole, I have a 1995 Camaro and the book said 5 hours to change the fuel pump..I just tapped around under the carpet till I heard a hollow sound where the pump was at and cut a flap. Took about 1/2 hour definitely the way to go..

Thank you all for the info. Sounds like cutting a access panel would be easier. It turns out its not my fuel pump (or so the shop says). Check out my new topic and see if maybe you can suggest anything.

Thanks all!!

You guys with 4th gens giving advice are misleading the guy, and anybody else for that matter. On 4th gens, it's easier to do the trap door because the lines have disconnects. I had a 91 and tried the trap door method, unfortunately all 4 lines are solid and have no disconnects, and the sending unit is not coming out with them connected. There are only two right ways to do the third gen, drop the tank, or do the trap door, but then you have to cut the lines and flare them so that you can connect the high pressure lines back up the safe way.
