Well after 200,000 miles the original fuel pump crapped on the 92. Got my money's worth. Did it the right way and dropped the tank. It took 5 hours in the driveway by myself. Wasn't that bad. So guys do it the right way. Runs like a champ again!

 

Yeah, with the 3rd gen's, dropping the tank is the way to go. On my old 91, I started out by cutting an access panel to remove the pump from above. But since these cars don't have any line disconnects, like the 4th gen's do, that would mean cutting all the steel lines, and flaring (at the very least) the supply line to retain a high pressure flare connection. Half-arsing the fuel lines is something you don't want to do, considering it's above the exhaust. I ended up dropping the tank and doing it right.

 

Drop the tank it gives you a chance to check it out and paint the tank.
