Default Frame repair

So, when i first bought my 1991 RS i didn't really know what to look for and missed the sevarity of the rust done to the frame in the rear. i recently found out that the axle is about 1/4" further forward on the passenger side than on the driver side. however, when i went to have it fixed and have the frame pulled, it was impossible because the entire rear end would in turn come off the rest of the frame. I am aware that because it is a subframe you can't just get a new frame, but is there any way to replace parts of the frame that rusted out and get the axle back in line, or is pretty much just a lost cause and should i just start looking for a new ride?

anything is repairable if you have the money to spend. you could have the frame shop weld in patch panels to reconstruct the subframe, and it would advise having subframe connecters welded in too so it will strengthen the whole car. for the rear, id say get a set of adjustable lower control arms, that way it can be adjusted out and back to being square

mccoy: I live in upstate NY. We salt the roads up here so Ive seen hundreds of cars literally rotted from the frame up. If your car is so rusted that the control arm mount is gone, then the damage is (in my opinion) terminal. Once you get under that thing and start ripping away the cancerous rusted parts, who knows how much more damage you will find. Im not saying its not repairable, as Micro stated, anything is repairable....but this one wont be worth it. Take it to a shop and get an estimate....I bet most places wont even work on it. Surface rust is minor....perforation rust means the entire part is destroyed several inches in all directions. You will have to cut it back until you find good, clean, totally non rusted metal. I dont mean to **** on your parade, but it may be wiser to just let this one go....

Any pictures? From your "the entire rear end would in turn come off the rest of the frame" comment, I sure hope you aren't driving that death trap.
