ford 9"

I see a lot of people adding these to our camaros.. kinda makes me a little sick as i know little about them other than the whole 3rd member is removeable and apperantly these things are fairly stout little rear ends.

Whats all the fuss about with these things? Im not putting them down, im not putting them on a pedistal. Im just curious about them. Seems to be all i can find in the jegs catalog.

The Ford 9" rears are a very strong and heavy rear made for a lot of Horsepower/Torque. People who spend a lot of time at the track, it would be a good choice over a 12-bolt. Also a little less expensive then the 12-bolt,but for the average street driven car it is "OVERKILL".

Ah, i know a few people who are putting them in street/strip cars. Considered it for mine when i get it to how i want it to be, but that wont be for many many years. ive still got some research to do

the ford 9" is akin to a kevlar vest in terms of rear ends, basically bullet proof, easy to maintain, work on and upgrade.

It also wastes more power than a 12 bolt due to the lower placing of the pinion gear. Not a big deal unless you need that last bit of power. However, the removeable 3rd member makes gear swaps at the strip easy.

ive got plenty of power as i sit now, but when i put that in, my goal is at least 500 horse before spray. and possibly a turbo or cyntrificul? ( spelling sucks i know..) super charger. So its gona have to handle a lot of power. And yes, it will be a lot of work and money before that goal is hit, but its just a goal/thought. havent made a move to it yet.
