First car!
Hey all, I signed up because I just recently bought a 1984 Camaro Berlinetta. It has a 350 4 barrel engine and 4 speed automatic transmission. It also has the digital dash and scary buzzer lol. It was $500, but like one of the recent posts, it had some front end damage because the other guy hit a 200 pound dog doing 80...wow. But i saw potential so i got it.I'm going to try to drill out the spot welds on the core support and i found a new bumper cover for $100 with headlights for both sides that's already black. sweet. that takes care of most of it, but my biggest question is: in the picture I attached, the part of the frame on thedrivers sidethat the bumperbolts toisall messed up, how much work/cost is that to cut a piece of frame out of another car and weld that in? I know people that welders and have plasma cutters, but what kind of project am i lookin at?
Thanks for any advice and I'm hoping to have a lot of posts here because I love my camaro!

You sure the guy did not hit a cow?
If the damage is just on the very end of that horn either try to straighten it and weld the tears up or cut the end off and find one at the wrecker. All that is going to do is hold the bumper reinforcement.
Look for buckles along that rail. It should look like the other side. If there are no buckles then you are fine. Hell, the body shop that fixed my car before I got it left a huge buckle in the passenger rail on my car but it did not affect the X-member and the car goes down the road straight.
Also if that is the original motor it would be a 305. But at least its a V8!

Haha yeah it was a bull mastiff... about as close to a cow as a dog can get lol. But it is only the end of that horn thats bent so I'm going to give it the old college try and try to bend it back. If not, I'll look into a shop or "custom fabrication" haha. And also, the first owner bought it with the v6 and just drove it in the summer. Then the guy I bought it from got it and put the 350 in it so i know its a 350. thanks for the help!
what i did to pull mine out was take a piece of 1/8 to 1/4 in. steel cut it to size and drill the 4 holes so they match up to the bumper then weld half a large chain link to it then using the 4 holes bolt it to the horn hook a chain to it then hook the other end of the chain to something sturdy, then pullit out with the car.. dont pull too hard you could rip the holes on your frame or the chain could come loose and whip through the windshield or worse you will take off quickly in reverse and hit something
