Default External 3rd Brake Light

Ok hopefully someone besides me has had this problem. Ok i got my car in April 2008 and all the lights worked fine until about January this year, then suddenly my third brake just stops working. I checked all the bulbs, their fine. I looked at the fuses but it's a confined space so i couldn't tell. Is their a fuse just for the 3rd brakelight? And if it's not the fuse what else could it be?

use something to apply the pedal with the key on. check for power at the bulb. if you do, good. then check for ground. easiest way to do that is to use a test light and hook it to the positive side of the battery. its possible the wire is corred in the housing or where it passes from the hatch to the body

Clean the power contact points between the hatch & body. Spring loaded on the hatch and three silver colored strips on the body (above license plate).

I had a problem with mine. The housing was allowing the bulb to move around (not much either...bulb felt tight) and not make contact. I had someone apply the brake while I wiggled the bulb around and it lit up. I replaced the housing and have never had another problem with it.
